Caidreamh na h-Òigridh | Youth Gaelic Weekend in March

March 27 – 29, 2026

Join us this March for Caidreamh na h-Òigridh, our Youth Immersion Weekend for ages 8–18. The weekend offers two levels—beginner and intermediate—designed to meet learners where they are. No prior experience is required for the beginner level, and the intermediate level is intended for students with a good foundation in Gaelic.

Sessions are taught using Gàidhlig aig Baile (Gaelic in the Home), an immersion-based teaching method developed in Nova Scotia. For those new to this approach, instructors typically begin with a brief orientation in English. Learning takes place through repetition, gestures, props, visual supports, games, and hands-on activities, creating a fun, dynamic, and engaging environment.

The goal of the weekend is to encourage and support young Gaelic learners and help them build connections and friendships.

Beginner is suitable for students who are brand new to Gaelic, as well as those with a small amount of prior exposure. Intermediate is intended for returning students or learners with significant experience and a strong foundation in the language.
