Student Information

Before Registering

  • Review Course Descriptions: Visit our Course Description page to understand what to expect and determine your appropriate level.
  • Youth Students: Please review and be familiar with the Student Rules before attending.

Campus Guidelines

  • Peanut-Free and Allergy-Sensitive Environment: Please refrain from bringing peanut-containing foods or wearing heavily scented products.
  • Instruments: Students must bring their own instruments in good working condition (excluding keyboards and chanters). We offer limited fiddle and harp rentals for adults—contact margie@gaeliccollege.edu for details.
  • Packing Recommendations: Bring all personal toiletries, towels, and bedding for youth students. Sturdy footwear and rainwear are essential due to variable weather, and a warm sweater or jacket is recommended for cool evenings.

Accommodations

  • On-campus accommodations are available for all sessions, covering from Sunday evening before the session begins to Friday afternoon (or Sunday afternoon for weekend sessions). If additional accommodations are required, please contact us in advance.
  • Youth Sessions: No additional accommodations are available outside of regular schedules due to the absence of supervision and meal services.
  • Day Students: Explore local accommodations through tourism sites, such as those for the Cabot Trail.

Travel & Parking

  • Airport Transport: The closest airport is Sydney, but many students arrive through Halifax. We recommend looking into local shuttle services.
  • Parking: Parking is available in designated areas. Recreational vehicles, trailers, motor homes, and tents are not permitted on campus.

Meals

  • Dining: Meals are prepared by our kitchen staff and served in our dining facilities.
  • Vegetarian/Gluten-Free Options: Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are available for an additional fee of $30 per week for live-in students and $10 per week for day students. Please indicate your request during registration.
  • Meal Schedule: Live-in students receive all meals from Sunday evening (light snacks) through the final lunch. Day students are provided lunch only. We recommend arriving for Sunday evening registration having already eaten supper, as only a light evening snack will be served.

Damage Policy

A charge will be applied for:

    1. Identifiable Damage or Cleanup: Caused by a particular student.
    2. Shared Damage: When damage occurs in a residence and no individual is identified, the charge will be equally shared among all students in the residence.
