Deborah Livingston-Lowe

Weaving

Deborah Livingston-Lowe has had a love for 19th-century handwoven Canadian textiles and the Gaelic language for over 30 years. She specialized in textiles at OCAD University and received a Bachelor of Education and B.A. in Celtic Studies and Fine Art History from the University of Toronto. She studied Gaelic language at the Gaelic College and at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. Deborah received an M.A. from the University of Guelph, where she researched the life and work of a Scottish immigrant weaver to Canada. As Upper Canada Weaving, Deborah works with local farms and mills to create tweed, flannel, coverlets and blankets.
