Chelsea’s family roots are in Margaree. There she grew up hearing some Gaelic from her grandfathers. When she started university at St. FX, she saw that you could take a Gaelic language course and decided to try to learn the language. After a few classes, she was hooked. Through StFX she was able to go on exchange to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and study Gaelic for a year. After returning from Scotland she took part in the Bun is Barr program where she was able to pick up her Margaree people’s Gaelic dialect. Now Chelsea is back at StFX enrolled in her final year of the Bachelor of Education program and pursuing her goal of becoming a Gaelic teacher. Through the Education program she was able to gain experience in teaching students through the GAB method, and looks forward to using this method again during the 2017 March Break youth session.
