Weaving Workshops

The Dr. Eveline MacLeod Weaving Centre located at Colaisde na Gàidhlig just beneath the administration building and Craft Shop is an active spot on campus all year round. Home to our resident weaver and instructor Dianne Quimby and summer assistant Carmel Gallant, the space was more recently moved, renovated and named in MacLeod’s honour on July 3, 2014. Besides the College’s regular summer programming, learning opportunities in both weaving and spinning have developed since that time with numerous cooperative workshops and the addition of a Masters program in conjunction with Alberta’s Olds College.

For 8 weeks this summer, resident weaver Dianne Quimby will offer weekly weaving classes on-site at Colaisde na Gàidhlig. Classes will be 2.5 hours long and there will be morning and afternoon options, Monday through Thursday. Additionally, the option of attending 4 classes a week for 2 weeks is available, just let Dianne know what works best for you. All levels welcome – ages 10 and up. Space is extremely limited (4 per class) so register early!
