Marielle Lespérance is a 5-time World Champion, 7-time Commonwealth Champion, and 13-time Canadian Champion in highland dancing. She is a strong advocate for highland dance, sharing her passion through competition, teaching and performance. She is a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dance, is a Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing judge, and has lectured and taught dance workshops across Canada, the United States, Scotland and Ireland. For the last two years, she was the highland dance instructor at the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside, PEI, and is excited to now be starting her very own dance school in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Marielle has performed internationally, both solo and with various productions and musicians, and continues to perform with the highland dance company Change of Step, of which she is a founding member.
Marielle owes her passion and success in dance to her instructor of nearly 20 years, Ellen Cameron, and to Janice Macquarrie, with whom she trained while completing her Bachelor of Science in Physics at St. Francis Xavier University. Marielle also holds a Master’s of Science in Medical Physics from Carleton University
