Anna MacDonald was born and raised in Baddeck and began step dancing at a very young age. Encouraged by her parents’ love of the music and involvement in the culture, Anna studied a variety of disciplines, but soon focused on Cape Breton step dance.
During her younger years, she learned from a variety of instructors, including Dina MacDonald, Betty Matheson, and Jean MacNeil, along with many other classes and workshops around the Island. Anna started teaching in the Baddeck area when she was in junior high school, and has continued since, teaching all ages and skill levels. While living in Edmonton, she taught Cape Breton step dance and square dance at the Celtic Ceilidh Dance Academy. Most recently, Anna has taught at Colaisde na Gaidhlig / The Gaelic College, for both their summer programming and on-line courses.
She has maintained her connections to the culture while earning her Bachelor of Business Administration degree at St. FX University, and today as she studies law at Dalhousie University.
