In Days Past, The Singing Of Milling Songs / Òrain Luaidh Lightened The Labour Involved In Working Newly Woven Cloth In Order To Shrink It And Make It Ready For Its Intended Use. Today Milling Songs Are An Integral Part Of Any Gathering Involving Songs And Singing.

1:10 – 2:10 Òrain Sa' Chidsin / Songs In The Kitchen: Hector Mac Neil

The Gaelic Song Tradition Is Made Up Of Many Different Song Types. Many Are Best Suited To Simply Sitting In The Kitchen And Singing Together. This Workshop Focuses On A Few Of The Old Favourites That Sometimes Don't Make Their Way To The Milling Table.

2:20 – 3:40 An Dà Shealladh / The Second Sight: A Gaelic Folk Belief

The “Second Sight" is the ability to see omens of things that will happen in the future. Considered both a gift and a penance, the Second Sight comes to people unasked and most times unwanted. In this talk, Hector Mac Neil, Gaelic teacher, singer, storyteller and researcher, will present some of the history of this phenomenon, and will round out his talk with accounts of second sight reported by one local Gaelic seer of the twentieth century.

3:50 – 5:00 Giseag is Creideamh / Stories of Superstition and Belief

Hector MacNeil & Angus MacLeod :

This is an opportunity for everyone to relax and enjoy one of the favourite entertainments of Gaels everywhere. This year's storytelling session will focus on stories of the supernatural. English translation will be provided.

7:00 – 9:00 Cuirm-Chiùil – Evening Concert: $6

A Milling Frolic Followed By A Concert Of Traditional Gaelic Music, Dance And Song Featuring The Boisdale Trio, Local Gaelic Singers and More.

Workshops are $6 each or Workshop Pass for $18

Supper is $12 per person / Concert is $6 per person
